How do I file a business insurance claim?

If a loss occurs at your business such as a theft, accident, fire or other catastrophe their are a few things you need to do.  Most importantly you want to make sure that no one has been injured and if anyone is injured take care of them first.  After you are sure that everyone is safe and accounted for the next thing to do is protect your property from further damage.  If you can safely remove your computers and other furniture/equipment from your business than you should do so to avoid more losses.  Also, if there is a hole in the wall or ceiling you should cover it to avoid worse losses.  In most cases your insurance company will reimburse you for anything you do to protect your property.

After you have ensured everyone and everything is safe you will want to call your insurance agent and the proper authorities (police, fire department, etc.) to report the loss.
